Still Life... Fruit holds still

#1 Because it is still, it is not doing anything so I find myself trying hard to make it "do" something.

#2 This was fun for me, I thought it nice to pick things that I like, and then look at them in different light, settings, and groupings.
#3 Jacob kept saying "that looks so good."
#4 I also took some of Charlee's blessing dress and her keepsake items. I checked each picture after I took them but didn't see until I tried to view them after I was all done that it said "no CF card!" So I guess I get to take some more tomorrow!
I think by taking still life photo's I find myself really capturing what I want to see in the frame. I feel it challenges me to look at things a little different. I hope that I will remember this as I take photos of other things. Still life for me has been a good learning tool.

Lots of Books

Here is my addition to this week's assignment. It was rather hard, but kind of fun at the same time.#2#3

My favorites are this last one with the books and the book with my glasses on it. Oh, and I like the piano with the flower as well.

Still Life Photography

"Lighting in Still Life Photography"
The first step to consider in still life photography is the lighting. You will want the object to have light directly from a single direction, so that you can have light as well as casting shadows on the object. This will enable it to have a depth of field and dimension. You will need to choose whether you desire a soft or harsh light. The harsher the light the more shadow you will create. Reflectors are often used in still life to tone the light down. The best and most commonly use type of lighting for still life photography is side lighting. Side lighting will certainly help you to achieve more contrast between the objects.
Poor lighting.

The little things...

Here's my second week of pictures for you to enjoy:
#1 Simple Beauty

#2 Passion Pink
#3 Cat on his back. It looks like this picture is upside down, but no, this is how she looked.
#4 Beauty of the scriptures. I've been spending a lot of time reading these lately.
#5 Sobe Bombs - or at least the aftermath of a sobe bomb.

#6 Dr Pepper and a good book. This is where I spend most of my days - on a chair, with a good book and a little bit of caffeine.

#7 Wind Power
#8 Desert Bloom
Now I'm ready for the next assignment ladies!

A Picture Today

I took these pictures this morning. It's just absolutely amazing to me that a snail can get up in a plant like that. And totally disgusting. So I had to take pictures.

And sorry I couldn't decide which one to do so I posted two. I just HAD to share!

Day by Day... in random order

June 26th 2009 (day 2)
We arrived in Venice pretty late. This was taken with our new camera purchased in Rome after our other two camera's became non-functional. We are traveling to our hotel on the "floating taxi." What a awesome sight, Venice at night!

June 25, 2009 (day 1)
Brian is hot and overwhelmed with the history of this town in this picture. Even the restored portions of Rome are way older than the United States. This is also pre-sunglasses so he is squinty eyed Brian here, I set the camera up on a ledge to take this photo. AMAZING

June 30, 2009 (day 6)
Last day in Paris, at sunset we walked down to the Eiffel Tour for a ice-cream. Brian at this point has been away from home and his kids for over 2 weeks. This is a "I am glad this is my last night" Tourettes is starting to take a hold of him at this point and I try to keep him away from the French people. He does look handsome sporting his Italian Shirt! I think there were more people at sunset than touring during the day. I guess people all come to the park and have a picnic every night in front of the Eiffel Tour.

July 1, 2009 (day 7)
This is when tears came to my eyes. I was able to climb in the co-pilot's seat for a change and watch my husband fly over the "pond." What a amazing experience for me as his wife to be able to sit by his side as we fly over the clear blue waters "single pilot" landing in Iceland. He is a wonderful husband, and a amazing pilot! Happy Birthday Charlee!

Day by Day Journal

Day by Day... I decided that I would do a journal of our trip, well mainly of Brian and his many looks! Or what Mom likes to call the "Brian Look" with a European back drop... oh and I couldn't get them to download in order so, well sorry!

June 29, 2009 (day 5)
This is the "I told you it was beautiful" look. Brian came to Paris last year so he had some experience in what to go see and do. This is the Basilica of Sacré-Coeur, or the Church of the Sacred Heart! The basilica (Church) is located at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city (Paris). Needless to say it was quite a walk to get to the base of the basilica, then we climbed the many many stairs to the Church only to go below the church to get to the 291 stairs going up to the top.

June 28, 2009 (day 4)
This is the "tour guide" Brian look! He was so great to keep us in full speed so I didn't miss a thing. We are under the Eiffel Tour, about to head across the Seine River to Charles De Gaulle Place, where stands the Arc de Triomphe then down Champs-Élysées, a beautiful Avenue with some very expensive shopping.

June 27, 2009 (day 3)
I love this Brian look, this is the "I love my wife" look. Well actually it is probably the "my wife is crazy" look but it is a look I see often so I prefer to think of it as the "I love my wife" look. We are sitting on a bridge in Venice and I snapped this photo of the two of us! Maybe this is the "happy anniversary" look!

A Picture a Day Keeps the Crazies Away...

#1 Ouch!
See the owie over his eye? This seems to be an everyday occurance. Poor baby... Everytime I turn my back for two seconds he gets another bump. It must be tough being young!
#2. Moving
Luckily not an everyday thing!3. Sunday Family Get-Togethers #4 My Little Helper
#5 Taking time to enjoy the beauties in life.
#6 Fourth of July Fireworks!
#7 The Jogger's View

It sure is hard only picking one picture from each day!
