Austin

What a cute, funny lookin' kid! Check out those freckles.
I don't like his left ear in either. The hat's underside and his ear are there together and it looks funny, but oh well!

Christmas Girls

It was never an official assignment, so I am going to make it one.
December project - Christmas Portraits. It is so hard to take your own kids picture. She was way too comfortable with me. Her hand was in her mouth or her finger was up her nose. Cute?
I still don't have a shot of Lana that I love, so you'll be seeing more later.

She was mad at me because I wouldn't let her do her ballerina poses.

So, we have lots of pictures with red eyes and tears and red face.

Tree and Below

My tree contribution. I can't say it is my favorite tree like Jenny, but we don't have many to choose from out here, so this is the biggest one I could find. I do like the sun showing between the trees. And my picture from below!
Yep, I have my Christmas decor all up already! It makes me so happy.

#3 Portrait (mixing things up a bit)
And #4 From Below

Landscape

Here's my landscape shot. It's at the top of Daniel's Summit.
Stupid snow, already.
Oh, I labeled this checklist assignment "The Checklist" for when you post. Sorry it's so confusing.

"f" is for fence

Another back drop possibility for Erik and Amanda!

Portrait

Portrait, of a cold nosed boy! I wasn't planning on taking all of these pictures, Jacob missed the bus and I had to go pick him up so we went for a drive! I did find a lot of fun places to take photo's.

Self Timer

It was too cold to try again... yes I know that Aiden has a weed in his face! good practice right!

Landscape

without soft focus!

Landscape

How about this for a backdrop... I have been taking pictures of backdrops for Erik and Amanda's Family picture and I took this one! I love it!

An Easy One - The Checklist

Okay, Ladies, it's time to move on! If you have anything you still need to post from the last assignment, get it done and here's the next one.
Austin and Melana have started a 4-H thing twice a month and the first time they met, they did a photography mini-class. I thought for this next assignment, that we'd go back to basics and do the checklist from this class. Enjoy!
Sorry, no picture for this one, just an assignment:
1 - Something that begins with the letter "F"
2 - Landscape
3 - Portrait
4 - Close-up of an object
5 - From above
6 - From below
7 - Picture of you and someone else (self timer practice)
8 - The biggest tree you see
9 - Clouds
10 - Plant
Sound easy?! It's all basic. I think the hardest thing will be to narrow each mini-assignment down to a single picture. Good luck! We'll work on this one for 2 weeks. At least we will have a variety to work on.

Silhouette

So I was playing with Shutter and Aperture Priorities. I've posted a couple of samples from each. The big ones are the ones I think turned out better, and the small ones are the ones that could be better. (ISO on all of these is 400)

#1 Exposure: Tv(Shutter Speed)- 1.6 sec
Av (Aperture)- f/20.0
(Notice the camera shake because I didn't have my tri pod with me.)
#2 Exposure: Tv- 1/40
Av- f/5.6
I love the way this turned out! Look at the sky, amazing.
#3 Exposure: Tv-1/100 sec
Av- f/7.1
Cute boy, but the background is all washed out...
#4 Silhouette
Exposure: Tv-1/250 sec
Av- f/11.0
My favorite is the light behind the dirt falling from his hand. Alright, that's it. Let me know what you think... Good and bad. I want to be open minded so I can improve. :)

Being Like Jenny

I guess I'm trying the Jenny way. I actually had fun and got some shots I love. This first one is just in bw with ISO at 1600. Nothing special done. And no editing. I just think it's cute. The rest of these shots are done in bw (obviously) with WB set at daylight, ISO 1600, SS 4000, and F 5.0. It took me quite a while of playing with settings to get what I like.
What a stud. He posed all by himself. I just told him to come sit on the step.
#2
This one had a lower F (somewhere in the 4's). I can't remember. But I like how pure and angelic she looks this washed out. Even if she wouldn't let me have her binkie.
#3
I like how the wind was blowing the hair out of her face in this next one. And the sassy look.
#4
I love this one of Melana's profile. I love the eyes. Jenny's right, this "style" sure makes the eyes pop.
#5
This one is my absolute favorite. I love how it is offset and not centered. I love the look on her face. I love the way here eyes show so much. And I LOVE the sweeping hair across her face.

White Balance

Do you ever take those pictures where your white seems to come out orange?? Well tonight I was taking pictures inside and with the flash on everything looked white, but when I turned the flash off, everything went sepia! So I played with my white balance.

#1 AWB= Auto White Balance
#2 Custom= Custom White balance
I set my setting to custom white balance and then took a picture of the white wall. And walah!! My problem was fixed!!

I like to see differently!

Well I decided that I have a unique taste in what style I like when it comes to my photography. I again love love love how this picture turned out. Even the grainy parts of Sharece's face, the shadows and shading form an abstract shape more than a face. Bringing (to me) the focus back to Jason! I would love to take this photo, a pencil, paper and sketch it!
